That’s the end of youth cricket for this summer

U15 Division 1 final v Muckamore

Muckamore won the toss and decided to bat. CACC earned an early wicket for Jerin thanks to a wonderful catch by Adam Hewitt. Further wickets fell to Achyut, Adam Orr and Jerin although the strong Muckamore middle order saw them post a formidable total of 164.In reply a couple of early wickets quickly saw CACC fall behind the rate. A resilient partnership of over 50 from Matthew and Adam H pushed the score up towards 70, although with the run rate rising and the light fading the middle order found it difficult to clear the boundary as required. CACC finished their innings on 91/9 losing by 73 runs.Despite the loss this was a fantastic season for the U15. To top our section in the league and to reach a final with a largely inexperienced team was a great effort. The future is certainly bright with this crop of players coming through. Thanks to the players snd parents for supporting the club. Thanks to Jonny and the other coaches who have been involved in their development.

U11 Division 1 final v Lisburn

The CACC U11 team batted first on a fast outfield at Wallace Park. Henry and Alfie got us off to the usual busy start stretching the fielding side with their dynamic running. Evan and Callum continued the assault hitting a few boundaries whilst losing a couple of wickets. Drew and Harry also batted well keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Sai and Shaurya took advantage of the deep set fielders to pick off numerous quick singles. Rishik, Surya and Bryn brought the innings to a close on 164, a very respectable total. In reply things started well with a couple of early wickets. After 3 pairs CACC were probably favourites to win the game. Evan took a wicket against the fourth pair but unfortunately this was the last wicket we took. Despite some excellent bowling and frantic fielding Lisburn went into the final over 2 runs ahead. Despite everyone’s best efforts Lisburn hung on to win by 6 runs. Despite the loss this was a fantastic season all round. Good luck to the p7’s moving into Year 8 and U13 cricket next season. Thanks to all the parents for supporting the club.
