Busy week for CACC junior teams

U13 report

On Wednesday 15th May the U13 team played Laurelvale. After the close game against Carrick on Monday this was a chance to give a game to some other players pushing for an A team spot.

The game started brightly with Ryan Ferguson taking the first of his two wickets in the first over. Some big hitting to the short boundaries followed from the Laurelvale batsmen punctuated only by a wicket to Harper McCloskey and a direct run out from Ethan Pavlovic. Laurelvale eventually set a formidable total of 203 for 4.

In reply, Matthew McQuiston started well, top scoring with 17 which included 2 fours and a six. Unfortunately only Harry Salt (6), James McDonald (5) and Rory Johnson (7 not out) mounted any kind of resistance. CACC were eventually all out for 97.

U15 report

On Friday night the U15A’s played Holywood in a Division 1 league match. CACC batted first and immediately set about attacking the Holywood bowling attack. Oliver Scott (31 runs) and Harvey Latham (15) put on 54 for the first wicket. Adam Gooderham weighed in with several boundaries and top scored with 35. Useful boundaries towards the end from Ethan Millar and Connor Gillam helped CACC post 138 at the close.

In reply, an excellent opening spell from Olly Scott and Olly Smith (one wicket each) set the tone for the whole innings. Ben Harrison and Matthew Williamson bowled well and where unlucky not to take any wickets. Adam Gooderham capped off an excellent all round performance with a wicket. Connor Gillam was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 for 8 in 3 overs with his accurate leg spin. The win puts CACC top of Division 1.
